Just going on a wild guess .....

Looking at the nose damage, and mid-body side damage, I'd say that was a grade crossing accident (probably a truck), where the vehicle rotated around the nose of the locomotive, striking the side, midway down the length of the frame.

If you look carefully, all the railing above the deck on the nose has been removed (probably cut off), along with the railing midway down the side. There's also air tank damage there, and a pretty sizable dent in the walkway.

Ok, It could be a good possibility!
I don't know why this engines was on a grain train to Quebec city and CN don't put the engine at Toronto yard or at Montreal to repair?

Heavy repairs are normally done in Symington (Winnepeg) Alberta or Homewood (Chicago) Illinois.
