The Montreal Railroad Modelers Association's massive HO layout in downtown Montreal stands to be evicted by their Landlord.

The Landlord is CANADIAN NATIONAL.

Making it's home in a warehouse by the tracks near Central Station for decades, Canadian National now wishes to move the club out for a storage facility, all in the name of making a greater profit on the property.

This layout ranks right up there with being a NATIONAL TREASURE, it is impossible to move the layout without destroying the majority of it, and finding such a cheap location proves to be difficult to impossible.

This public realtions SNAFU is the latest in a string which has the Canadian public mostly giving CN the "Thumbs Down".

You can see the entire story with supplemental video here from CTV''s CFCF News in Montreal;

Video of the layout can be seen here on YouTube;

IF this story is proliferated in the community, there's a chance the layout can be spared, best by Canadian National DONATING the building to the Association. It would be a PR coup at a time when CN could really use one, and for a tax write off, it wouldn't really cost CN a thing.

Bullying this club is really a stupid decision to make in a Board Room. Tell your friends.

I don't believe that CN evicted them, my understanding is that CN had sold the property to new owners and that the club was given a 1 year notice from them.

It is an impressive layout to see in person, worth a trip. I think they are there wednesday nights.

and now,thill next month,that will be the wrost part,that to remove evrything..
in occurence,the biggest train layout in Canada are not modular,so,that whill be the end for almost all parts of the layout..taking of houses,station,gantry and a lot of scenery..
the layout will be cutted out,but for some parts,members of the club will try to save them,may be for a eventual reconstitution of some part of the layout..

the company who guilty for the end od MARM are Depotium,prefering to destroy a 3 decades history,than give a chance to survive,they were have a huge empty rooms before,the,they put walls on and get the club on its own local,now,they fired them out from the place..
