E&N Division wants to preserve GMD1 1170

The E&N Division of the CRHA is trying to raise money to buy GMD1 1170 from a company back east. The locomotive started life in 1960 as 1070 and pulled the last CN train on Vancouver Island in January of 1990. The company wants $45,000 USD(about $60,000 CDN) for the locomotive plus transportation costs to get it from Capreol to Victoria. For more info see

Well boys and girls, I just happen to have a photo of the Capreol deadline where the 1170 happens to be. Although, because I can't post a photo here, I invite you to surf over to the CN Discussion Forum at http://www.railfan.net where I'll be happy to post a photograph.

Disclaimer - the 1170 was in behind the line which I photographed but is in the same exact condition & status as the locomotives pictured. As much as I wanted to proceed from the CN yards into the compound where the locomotive rests, I opted not to... There is trespassing and then there's trespassing.
