In speaking with railroad workers from the CN mainline in Quebec and New Brunswick, as well as workers on the New Brunswick East Coast and Chemin Fer Baie Chaleur, people think that these spin-off roads are headed back into CN.

At the time, shedding these lines didn't make much sense. Then, came the notion that CN wanted to drum up cash to purchase the IC. BINGO!

Since then, the strange thing has been that the train orders on these lines all come from CN. Hmmmmm. Looks like in addition to raising capital for a purchase, the CN Management broke the unions out of the areas sold off, reducing significantly the amount of $$$ they would have had to dole out for pensions......

Now that enough time has passed, there's rumblings that CN will purchase these lines back, thus cornering the market, as we know
CN likes to do.

Any thoughts or news off the wire about this?

Dieter.
