What is the story behind the BNSF MSTS cooperation? It was a chance for G.E and BNSF adverstise itself? This photographer states that not all went well and BNSF did not benefit much.

I imagine it was just a ad that Microsoft likely paid for. I imagine MS had to pay BNSF and GE license fees, I don't think BNSF lost anything in the game project.
