Assistant Signalperson in Dennison, Texas

I'm thinking about applying for assistant signalperson in Dennison which is about 60 miles west of me. I'm 36 years old and have been a state licensed electrical contractor since 1997. Will my electrical experience help me and will my age hurt me? I've done electrical work since I was 18 so I'm kinda nervous about trying something else. Also, I've heard that BNSF seniority is company wide. Is it possible I could be forced to transfer if someone with more seniority wanted my job?
