I got digging through some photos on line. I found several that show BAR GP38s in full BAR paint, and the strange part is that they are completely unpatched. They have the BAR shield, and Bangor and Aroostook still spelled out on the sides.
Like this one in Wallula WA in 2007 http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPi ... ?id=643436

When I saw this I kept digging, thinking that in another picture i would see a leasers reporting marks on there somewhere, but there wern't atleast not that I could find. Now I know at least 3-4 of the ex BAR 38's wound up in leasers hands like WAMX, but this one is still unpatched. Whos is it?

Let me give this a shot and see if my internet hunting skills, such as they might be, are in the right direction. I found 360 attached to an orangeish engine in some other pics attributed to the Palouse River and Coulee City railroad, which is now operated by the state of Washington. Sure looks like the same pair to me. I am not the best source on diesel rosters, so I do not know where that locomotive might be now or whether it still sports original BAR paint scheme.

When Rail World purchased Iron Roads, did they get the rights to the "BAR" reporting marks? If they didn't get the marks, who did?

Yes, MMA owns the BAR reporting mark.

What's the story on the BL-2 units? Locations/status/photos?

Seems to be at least two, and perhaps as many as four, ex-BAR BL2s still in existence:

ex-BAR 52 and 56 last known enroute from National Railroad Museum in Green Bay WI, reported destination Arizona Eastern Railroad, as of November 2009. Current status unknown.

ex-BAR 54, now Stourbridge Railroad 54, as of March 2010 undergoing mechanical overhaul at Morristown and Erie Railroad shops.

ex-BAR 57, on static display at Coles Transportation Museum, Bangor ME. Carries original number 557.

The pair being shipped to Arizona, which have been purchased by the Arizona Eastern Railway, were rejected for shipment by Union Pacific due to their lack of alignment control couplers. They were shipped back to Metro East Industries in E. St. Louis for modifications to the couplers, and are still there to the best of my knowledge.
