Was this a special move or anything? I did see there was a private car on the end of it.

If it was just the PV that made it unique, this thread: http://railroad.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=51901 would be more appropriate.

If it was a detour, we can talk about why it detoured. If not, I'll merge this with the unique thread.

Amtrak Train 20 racing an NS light engine move south of Manassas, VA.

Mod Note: video link redacted; no knock here as I don't know who took the video, and it was a cool video, but it includes unsafe conduct which we don't want to encourage. See subsequent post for guidelines.

Site Admin:

Some guidelines.....

1. Trackside action is great. Trespassing is not. Any videos which show trespassing will be deleted and a warning issued. See Amtrak.com or the host railroad web-site for guidelines (i.e. platform presence when not a ticketed passenger) or policies on photography, etc. PS let's not get into an existential discussion on photo policies.

2. Video of unsafe contact is prohibited. Hanging out a window, riding in a vestibule, or a video where the point-of-view is from a moving vehicle and the driver is taking the video are good examples. This is not an all-inclusive list.

I'll add more if I think of more. I'll know it when I see it.

Took the train to New Orleans this past weekend. What a great trip! Traveled coach on the way down and roomette on the way back. Both trains were on time and had no problems.
Shot some video's with scanner audio from the room as we made some station stops on Mississippi

Got the heads up via twitter this morning that 156 was on the point of Train 19 with private varnish on the rear. This is my favorite scheme so I waited all day to catch it. It was running 2 hours late when it arrived in Tuscaloosa so the sun was not my friend but I shot video and pictures anyway. Now all I need is a picture of the Phase II unit and my collection will be complete.

Rode up to the North and of the AGS South today to see what I could catch. Among other trains I got Train 19 at speed through Lipscomb with three private cars then Train 20 at speed through Bessemer with Heritage Unit 156. Watch the video but don't blink or you will miss them.
