I suspect they're going to do something with 2164 as I was trying to book a ticket for this summer (during the bogo sale last weekend) and it was showing only an extremely high bucket flex fare. I would have preferred 2164's timing, but had to go with 2160.

Maybe the 2103 (6am) and 2401 (6:35a express) pair need to be shifted a little earlier (for an earlier arrival into NYP)
Like 2103 at 5:40a and 2401 at 6:20 (with a stop in PHL ;-)

I'd expect some changes on March 22nd due to track work. MARC already pushed out a new Penn Line (NEC) schedule.

Suspended until May over Coronavirus fears. No link but it's being carried over the wire

So, the nonstop is a razor’s edge operation is what Amtrak is saying. In normal times it’s profitable, but when videoconferencing becomes mandatory it’s not patronized quite enough to justify skipping Philly, Wilmington, and Baltimore.

The news reports I am seeing say that Amtrak is also looking at other schedule changes and reducing cars on trains due to a drop in demand.

Exactly.

Now that we're looking at having President Biden starting in 2021, maybe the infrastructure will be improved enough to have 2 hour Acela trips between NY and DC. With that schedule, a nonstop service would get more ridership, I'd think.

**Note: this is not a political post and I do not support Biden; it's just a prediction**

I'm starting to think cancelling this train was either a bad move, or at least poorly handled.
Economically it makes sense, but now I've seen several people on social media who are reading it as ALL Acela service has been cancelled.

Apparently they're either not aware this is the only non-stop Acela, or think all are or something.

I've had to correct at least one person who thought all Acelas were being cancelled temporarily.

So got me wondering if perhaps Amtrak should have either quietly done this or kept it going for now at a loss.

I'm afraid the false narrative may hurt ridership beyond the current outbreak.

And funny enough, moments after posting that, I see a Tweet and a FB post from Amtrak that was more clarifying than previous ones. Hmm.:-)

As long as this virus outbreak exists, the "non stop" service is done.
All commuter operators will start "deep cleaning" programs ASAP along with disinfection routines.
