Nearly a full complement of trains was revieed in this period, the exceptions caused by minor disruptions due to weather and operational incidents. On-time performance improved
and the average delay decreased. 72% of the late trains were less than 1' late.

Services which showed gains in both measured categories included the eastbound Capitol Limited and the BUF and KCY Corridors; westbound Cardinal and Pennsylvanian; and both directions of the Lake Shore Limited and the DET and STL Corridors. What is not quantifiable is the extent of gains due to the reduction in freight traffic on the host carriers during the holiday period.

Of the 109 trains which were more than 2' late: the Crescent accounted for 46, the Lake Shore Limited for 25, and the Capitol Limited for 20.

Of the total delay minutes in this period, the Crescent accounted for 32%, the Lake Shore Limited for 17%, and the BUF Corridor for 13%.

Performance on the westbound BUF Corridor and both directions of the DET Corridor remain far below acceptable levels with no improvement in sight.

A continuing odd circumstance is how #22 eastbound Texas Eagle can arrive OT in CHI after covering 1300+ miles more often (9 rtimes) than #21 westbound can arrive OT in STL (5) on a 285 mile run. Both trains are part of the STL Corridor and serve as the 3rd daily departure in each direction.

NS still has problems between CLE and CHI which line sees the Lake Shore Limited and Capitol Limited which resulted in the westbounds losing time on 42 of 59 trips and the eastbounds 39 of 60 trips.

Hopefully, the modest gains in performance this period will be augmented in future periods.
