It’s already en route to TTCI in Pueblo, CO; it’s probably arrived by now actually.

The FRA required engines and a car on each end as part of the waiver to move it.
Makes sense, thanks.

Do you have these setup on autopost? Like literally all the above posts are about the topic. The better question would be "anyone figure out why the cranky old dutch guy is acting like a moderator when he's not a moderator?"

It entered the facility yesterday.

To everyone that calls this train ugly or whatever, I have to agree. They will probably come up with a new phase to go along with the new diesels they ordered.

At least I hope they do.

So apparently Amtrak just posted two pictures of the trainset in Pueblo and says that it will be there for 9 months! Probably the usual time for something to undergo that much testing for but still seems a bit long after Amtrak promoted its traveling to Pueblo (a city which still has no Amtrak service. Where's the Southwest Chief when you need it? [other than being delayed by BNSF freights]).

long ?? no, the test center is testing other stuff too even foreign trains , and besides loading the cars with sand bags both balanced , unbalanced, with certain defects etc etc they need time to digest the data, the train is not just run around the fast loop but has to go around track with build in defects.

The entire design and all systems need to be certified before in service use on the NEC
Test data under certain conditions is part of the Process.
Figure on the trip back to the NEC will be faster than the trip to TTC after the braking system will be certified.

The data are critical to ensuring that all potential points of weakness or failure are fully evaluated. It is also likely that unanticipated results of testing will give rise to a need to add additional variations and test protocols. There well may be time built in for such contingencies.
