Well, trespasser strike by BWI right in the thick of the morning Amtrak wave has backed up the works accordingly. The Vermonter for example is only just making NYP now, with the delayed 184 and the Crescent right on its tail.

More details on that. The suspect in a double-shooting at a Jessup truck stop jumped in front of MARC 502 near Annapolis Road and Whitfield Chapel Road in Lanham, MD. MARC 404 rescued the passengers of 502. MARC 406 was probably already in route and ordered to go slow past the scene before police ordered the railroad traffic halted while they investigated.

Traffic resumed around 12 noon, and there was a TON of Amtrak traffic backed up.

#56 Vermonter is showing 3 hrs, 57 minutes late into White River Jct.
Good possibility that #55 on 3/29 will be late depending on crew rest
requirements at SAB.

Eatbound Wolverine #352 (31st) lost 3' 45" between Ann Arbor and Dearborn?

and

#'s 448 & 449 (31st) lost 3' 45" and 3'00" respectively between Pittsfield and Springfield?

B&A lost time due to a wild fire in the Berkshires, I want to to say somewhere around Westfeild but Im not 100% sure.

Amtrak train #89 collided with a backhoe on the tracks south of 30th Street Station. The lead engine derailed after the collision. The blog posting says that there were 341 passengers and 7 crew members on board and that some people were injured. All service between NYC and PHL is suspended.
