What handheld was NS using in mid/late 1990's

Does anybody remember what handhelds NS was using back in 1997/1998? I can only vaguely remember the one I had other than it was way better than the new ones they were switching over to. Those could barely tone up dispatch, where as my old red colored Motorola MT500 maybe? had no problem toning up dispatch. It only had 3 or 4 channels and it was thick as a brick but it was built like a tank. Would love to find one second hand to restore. Just cannot remember what model it was to search for. Mike

Most likely the MT500.
I think around that timeframe they were switching over to the HT1000.

Now if i could just find one to buy at a reasonable price. Be nice if it had the red case like the one I had did. That radio received better than any scanners I have owned thru the years.
