Hi
The 7215 was parked up near Cedar Knolles, and not operational from what I know. The 7205 was in running order last I heard.
Cheers

I agree. That's why I initially posted a link to the A&M thread. But you replied about the paint scheme in this thread instead of the A&M one, so I assumed you wanted to keep talking about it here. Sorry.
My error as well.....A brief mention would have been ok, but I could see the thread getting off topic.

Are the TC Alcos really for sale?

The rumor was that they were going to be scrapped which was not true.

That email is really from the railroad:

They only said "looking into options of removal"..
options probably including selling, but if not sold, then scrapping is probably not out of the question..
"looking into options of removal" makes it pretty clear they want to get rid of them though..so I would say "for sale" is pretty obvious,
even though they didn't say that directly..

The railroad did say scrapping was not being immediately considered, a year ago.

Need the get the TOC to talk to the CNZR (Central New England) up here in CT. The CNZR was looking for mechanical RS-1 parts. I mentioned to the CNZR a few months about the TOC RS-1s but had assumed the derelict RS-1s were scrapped by then. Would be nice to have 240 back here.

News from people in the know..(I have names, but haven't asked if I can post them, so I wont.)

All five of the Tioga Central Alcos have been purchased by the Livonia Avon & Lakeville.
RS3m No. 506 and S2 No. 14 are planned to operate.
the three RS1's are in bad shape, and were purchased for parts. they will be parted out and scrapped.

Reported from a contact I have:

There are issues, both positives and negative. One positive is that the centuries had alignment control in them, although this one needs the draft gears and / or couplers replaced, it is not 100%. Cracked turbo on the diesel, and an oil leak that wiped out one traction motor. It has good wheels / motors as it was re-trucked, but the originals are near by on the property. The loco comes with an assortment of replacement parts including a turbo (no idea if it is good). I was thinking of taking a road trip in the next couple of weeks to see it first hand. This loco needs work but could be made serviceable. I threw a number at them of like "$30K" and they want more, claiming they can scrap it and get more out of it, which might be true if you want to do all of that work. But I think the owner wants to see it saved and preserved. I am thinking $40K might get it, if there was a solid plan around it with some negotiation.
