Hi All,
Just caught an episode of Tracks Ahead, which featured Doyle McCormick of Southern Pacific's # 4449 Northern fame. Apparently this enthusiast has rescued a PA-2, in pieces, and is in the process of restoring it to the first cab ride he ever got, # 190 NKP PA-2. From the photos, he has a ways to go, but he has obviously spent his kids inheritance restoring it.
Anyone know how that engine is doing today? From what we saw, he probably would love to run it with the 4449, or by itself, hauling passenger cars. I believe he is keeping it on his own property and working on it when he and his buddies have the time, and money. This engine probably has the best chance of riding the high Iron once again.
Nice to see a really passionate Railfan.
