It is currently undergoing cosmetic restoration at the Elgin County Rwy Museum. I saw it this past summer and have some photos I hope to post online soon.

The last I heard is that the engine runs, but the trucks is what forced this classic into retirement.
Do you know if there is any plans to operate her? Or fix the trucks?

I visited this engine in 2003, when it was still in CP Rail paint- very dusty. The cab is nice and clean, but the hood is completely gutted.

One ~decent shot of it in July: http://nick-sa.rrpicturearchives.net/sh ... ?id=173750

Alcoman is correct-the trucks need work.

The Empress was a favorite of the St. Luc shop, and the shop foreman, Guilio, tried his best to locate serviceable used trucks. But it was more then the people downtown wanted to spend. Sadly, the unit was retired from the CPR's roster.

I've just posted some photos I took this past summer at the Elgin County Railway Museum, including photos of the RSD17.
