539 to 531 crankshaft interchangeability

Does anyone know if a crankshaft from a 539 would be backfit compatible to a 531? I don't have access to manuals that would answer this question. It appears that it might be since the major difference in the blocks is the mounting that allows the 539 to sit lower in the carbody.
