Though TMNY has a big grant for track rehab underway, I want to remind everyone that being a municipally administered capital grant, it adds a grand total of $0.00 to the museum's operating budget. The museum is still a private non-profit organization on its own for all expenses like fuel, heat, lighting, restoration, preservation, maintenance, payroll, etc.
As an experiment, we've set up a fundraising campaign on a 'crowd funding' web site. The link is here: http://www.gofundme.com/Mind-the-Gap.
When you make a donation, it gives you options to post that you supported the cause on your Twitter and Facebook accounts. This is what helps a campaign 'go viral'. As more people donate, more people see what others are donating to.
At the moment it has some stock footage of the Johnstown trolley running, but we are working to produce a short video to better promote the museum and hopefully prompt people to open their wallets. It might be a bit of time before the video is ready. In the mean time, if you could throw a few bucks our way (tax deductible of course), it would be most appreciated!
