ACTIVE MODEL RAILROAD CLUBS! We want to hear from you. Please post a link to your club's web site or Facebook page, along with a brief description of your activities. I'll start with my favorite model railroad club, please follow a similar format...

The Rochester Institute of Technology Model Railroad, Rochester, New York

The RIT Model Railroad Club (RITMRC) was founded in early 1996 to promote the hobby of model railroading and to preserve the history of Rochester's railroads. We welcome any RIT students who wish to learn more not only about trains, but also building scale models, electronics, scenery effects, software, and more! We meet most Tuesdays at 7:00 p.m. in Room A420 (lower level Student Union across from Tech Crew offices). After providing 15 years of equal parts enjoyment and headache, the old layout was decommissioned on May 20, 2012. Current students and alumni members are working together to build and design a bigger and better version of the Rochester & Irondequoit Terminal. Construction began on October 1, 2012, and has been progressing steadily each week. The new layout starts in Syracuse (staging), and features key scenes in the city of Rochester, and expands to includes towns of Albion and Lockport along the Falls Road Secondary to the industrial side of Niagara Falls before returning to Buffalo (staging).

Oh goodie I just noticed this!

For anyone in the NYC/ North Jersey metro area the NYSME is a short walking distance by bus or rail. Open house will be come the spring again, and new members are always welcome. Wednesdays during the afternoons and evenings theres almost always people there working on something or just hanging out. Anyone is welcome to stop by and check out the two large layouts, an HO and an O scale 2 rail. We are the oldest model railroad club in the US.

There is also a nice display over the layouts of almost all the original tail signs from the great passenger trains that criss crossed this country years ago.

The '20s, '30s and Beyond Model Railroad replicates the golden age of railroading in 1:87 HO scale. Members build and transport their own six-foot-long modules that depict North American railroading during the period from the end of WWI through the steam-to-diesel era. We set up several times a year at public locations in southern California.

We have no officers, no dues, no bylaws, no clubhouse, no meetings, no "obligations" (like showing up at certain number of set-ups, etc.). Just build a module following our basic standards that is similar or better in quality to the other members' modules and you're a member!

We started in 1991. We've just slightly re-named the club to include the steam-to-diesel transition era. Formerly, we only modeled the time between WWI and WWII (our previous name was '20s & '30s Modular Model Railroad).
