I received an email from Union Pacific stating that I have been selected as an alternate for a conductor position. I understood it to mean basically that if someone doesn’t pass drug test, background investigation, or washes out during training, etc I may be offered a job down the line. The funny thing is I haven’t even interviewed with them yet. I assume if offered a position I would have to go and interview then? Seems a bit backwards though. I’ve never even gone to a hiring session. Just applied online. Has anyone here gotten hired on by UP after being selected as an alternate?
