Siemens-Alstom merger questions

Is the new company going to use both names? Will they be offering separate product lines?

I've heard that they are merging their transportation divisions, but not the entire corporations.

If Conductors are in charge, why are they promoted to be Engineer???

So far Alstom is promising not to immediately cut jobs or factories in France, but who know how long that will remain true?

I haven't yet found any information about product lines, but it's probably too early for decisions on that. Everyone seems to admit that future competition from CRRC is a major factor.

The European Union has initiated a full investigation into the proposed merger given a concern about the lack of competition that will result if it goes ahead

And the merger is dead, unless the French and German governments follow through with threats to change the rules, as the European Union blocks the deal:
