I'm often interested in the boring and mundane (to others).
The joint CNJ/Reading station in Allentown was "off the main line," if you will, of the through routing from Jersey City to Harrisburg. How did the through passenger trains serve the station? Did they back into the station from East Penn Jct., then pull out onto the RDG's East Penn line to Reading? Or, did they pull into the Allentown station, then back out to East Penn Jct. before continuing on westward? Also, can I safely presume that they used the platform on the west side (i.e., closest to Jordan Creek and the LV Station) of the station?
These are the types of things that keep me awake at night. :-D
