Does anyone know the last time the Williamsporter ran out of Philadelphia? When it did cease to run, how did one get from Philadelphia to Williamsport by train? What were the options? Thanks

Until Amtrak Day, the PRR ran passenger trains between Harrisburg and Buffalo via Williamsport.

I took a quick look at Official Guides and employes time tables at hand:
Service on the Catawissa Branch was mixed trains in 1933 and gone by 1939; the through trains ran via Shamokin.
Through service to Williamsport was offered both via the Little Schuylkill Branch and via Pottsville in 1944.
By 1947, the through train ran only via the Little Schuylkill; by 1951 there was no service west of Shamokin.
No names were assigned to these trains, but they may have been named in the public time tables.
Hope this is helpful.

The Williamsporter was a CNJ-RDG operation form Jersey City to Williamsport and used the L&NE as well through the old Lansford tunnel to the Rdg in Tamaqua. It ran til around 1937 or 38 and is made mention of in some L&NE publications account some of the (Rdg or CNJ, not LNE) camelback steamers having their cab roofs lowered to clear the tunnel.

While not answering the original question, I can add that the Wiliamsporter was still in the Official Guide in Oct. 1937. They were CNJ trains 120 and 121. According to the guide, they had a through baggage car and air conditioned reclining coach seats. That was it, no sleepers.
