Pinewald Station wrote:$60? You just made a lot of people sick..lol....I probably get one but not sure how high I want to go!
A lot of those online sights are a major rip off - I bought a copy of "26 Miles to Jersey City" from a train show at Timodium, MD for SIX dollars 2 months ago. Inside the cover, is a print out from one of those online sites (I don't remember which) for like 120 dollars for the same book. I dunno if this book was purchased at that price by the buyer or he just printed it out, but I can't see taking a 114 dollar loss on a book....- if so, he isn't gonna be in business much longer!!!!

The only place I would get any kind of book online would be Amazon or Ebay. Thats just me, but from what I have noticed, these "specialty" sites tend to rip you off even more because they have a captive market of folks who really want what they are offering (and not just dealing with trains, I have noticed this with anything). Going to a site like ebay or Amazon, with "normal" folks and the general population, I find things can be found cheaper. Not always, and of course, there are always exceptions on both types of sites, but just keep your eyes open and enjoy the thrill of the hunt!

Awesome!! I have googled/MSN?Tahoo seached for a pictue of that later Station......the first station was built in the 1880s and I have seen a pic of that at Berkeley Twp Historical Soc and it was called Barnegat Park back then. Back in the 50s 60s and 70s you could probably look out the front window and see whayever trains and look over to the left and see the station thru the trees. In 34 years the site is so overgrown with tees......thanks for the link and if anybody sees a copy THE TRAIL OF THE BUE COMET that wound not spend my future retirement please pm me !!!

The pic of the station looks much bigger than i imagined. There are a couple of houses with similar characteistics right down the street. 35 years after its being razed it"s hard to tell anything was ever there. I guess the rail trail will change that !

I am guessing that the Station architecture was based on the former Royal Pines Hotel (now the Crytal Lake Nursing & Rehabilitation center) which was the major destination back then?

Yes that could be Pat. There are a few houses in that area with similar
features. Central Ave the street next to and north of the former site was to be the main street of Barnegat Park back in the 1880s. It was built a 100 feet wide at the minimum and today you can see the wide shoulders !
