The late Joe Brauner, of Pennsylvania, had a large assortment of caboose pics taken in the 40's-60's. Here's a shot he sent me which I'll also post in the New York State forum.

The caboose almost certainly is ex NYO&W. The pic was taken at what later became Frontier Yard on the NYC 10-23-1952. Initial suggests it may have been owned by International Railways, an interurban in the Buffalo NY area. That line shut down in 1937 if I'm not mistaken so no idea where the car was after that. EDIT: On the NY State forum it was noted that the IRCX reporting marks belonged to Indian Refining, not a vestige of International Railways as I erroneously guessed. It was suggested that MAY have been the former NYOW 8014, sold to JW&NW, but not confirmed.

Sadly, its condition in the photo suggests that it did not have a very long future ahead of it.

A little research and info from guys at the O&W RHS and we could narrow things down a little perhaps.

8303 and 8311 were sold to Iron & Steel Products, Inc. in 1947. I note that as maybe relevant to the reporting marks stenciled and the pre-1952 sale of the caboose.

8305 was sold to the Norwood & St. Lawrence RR in 1946. I have not researched any further info on this caboose but it is a pre-1952 sale.

8315 was retired in 1952 as worn out and unserviceable - probably scrapped but not listed as such

8334 and 8339 were sold to Morrison Railway Supply on June 27, 1952 - no further info at my disposal

ex 8312 renumbered by NYO&W to R-100 converted to MOW quarters (camp car) retired in 1952 - final disposition not clear
ex 8332 " " " " to R-101 - same as above retired in 1952 had been used by bull dozer operator as living quarters

8310, 8319, 8337 - these three are disposition unknow.
