I've been working on a couple more of my dad's old pictures and thought I'd share them. The first two have scanned as reoster shots, but if you look at the faint image above the tenders, you will see that they are both taking on water.

First we have Reading M1sa #1703.

Secod is Reading M1sa #1724, with a railroad worker standing on the tender.

And third, taken from the same location, we have trackside Reading customer Goulard & Olena sitting in the "station square" of the very rural location.

If anyone can add any info on the Reading Mikes (which ones were built by Baldwin, which ones by Reading, when were they retired, what their primary service was), or about freight patterns in Skillman at the time (how many trains, did they all do work there, etc.), I would so appreciate it.

Regards,

Interesting pictures!

On the first picture, you might want to re-check the original photo to see if this is the 1705 rather than the 1703. The 1703 had most of its piping hidden under smooth boiler jacketing during WW-2, while in this photo the piping arrangement on the boiler looks more like the 1705.

The original is not any clearer, but looking at the scan, I could call it a 5 or a 3, so based on this information, I'll change it to 1705 in the caption.

Thanks so much.
