They run a stone train between Cedar Hill (New Haven) and Fresh Pond (Brooklyn) somewhat often. Not sure how often they're up around Danbury but they would need to get on the NEC at some point to access it. No clue east of New Haven, again I assume they would need to be on the NEC at some point to move between their own territory.

NR2 used to come out of Groton following Amtrak train #171, or #2159, west to Old Saybrook. They usually service customers between New London & Old Saybrook, and then interchange with a local that comes out of Cedar Hill and heads east to Old Saybrook.

Out of curiosity, are FPCH/CHFP limited to only stone traffic between Long Island and New Haven, or does P&W's rights on CSX allow any through traffic to be hauled?

P&W can only haul agregate to Long Island, they have no other rights.

About 10 years ago NYA would get tank cars of vegetable oil from NS thru NYCH destined for the P&W. NYA would give it to CSX who took it up to Selkirk and then over to the P&W. I always found it sad 3 tank cars would be sitting on the CSX outbound track in Pond for P&W as they passed on tRhe next track over with the stone trains...

Thanks for the responses! Jayjay, interesting that those tank cars would follow such a routing, especially since they could be handed off to CSX west of Hudson and hauled directly up to Selkirk (although the east of Hudson routing is more interesting ;) ).

OK if we have some freight at Fresh Pond that came from Long Island, or was floated across the Hudson & it's for P&W.
Routing = CP to Oak (Bronx) then CSX to NH ?

CSX Fresh Pond-Oak Point-Selkirk, then Selkirk-Worcester. CSX operates locals east from Croton Yard (?) up the Harlem line then east on the New Haven Line as far as Rings End Lumber in Darien. They operate a local out of Cedar Hill as far west as Bridgeport, but the two locals never meet. In theory they could, but that would require a car routing Fresh Pond-Oak Point-Croton-Bridgeport-Cedar Hill, then hand off to P&W. Obviously the most direct route would be to hitch a ride on a stone train, but apparently the overhead rights agreement between CSX and P&W prohibits that.
