US lumber production is up 3% YoY, so why is lumber traffic so down (-8%) this year? Have trucks eaten the market?

I agree with your production numbers, more or less, but AAR loadings are up also (though not as much). Perhaps you are looking at US only? The US-CDA exchange rate, along with the expiration of the Softwood Lumber Agreement has favored Canadian production. There's reportedly been some modal shift as well, with trucker capacity relatively loose.

You're right; I'm looking at just US data, but my production #s are also US...

But overall I agree, the market is adv. Canada right now.
