Anything new on the Resurrected P&N in Gaston County?

Last year, and in 2009 a lot of work was done on the old P&N line that runs from Gastonia to Mount Holly, a lot of track work, new signals and more.

There were stories in the local papers about freight operations resuming on the line, and perhaps a dinner train and even passenger service from Gastonia to Charlotte on special occasions (Panther Games etc.)

I found several items that said operations were expected to begin in the spring of this year, but nothing more has happened.

Does anyone know what is going on with the plans? Patriot Rail has the operating contract, but there is nothing newer on thier website either.

I've been wondering myself. By the time they get around to it, they'll have to do all that trackwork over again. Funny you'd mention that as I was thinking the same thing coming out of Ranlo last night.............
