The Savannah Roundhouse Museum is definitely worth a visit. There are several pieces of equipment and locomotives unique to the Central of Georgia Railway on display. Though some of the complex is in ruins, it has been cleaned up significantly to allow access to most all of it. Some of the complex's former operations have been restored to convey an idea of how and what those operations did during their heyday in addition to showing how such a complex was able to operate as a self-sufficient operation. Restoration of the complex is definitely an ongoing operation here. There are many signs that tell the story of the complex and the Central of Georgia Railway, so you get a good idea of what that operation was like years ago. The volunteers at the museum seem very dedicated to getting the complex restored, though it will take many years and significant sums of money to do so. They deserve our support.
