I'm supposed to be riding Amtrak 97 / 98 this weekend and was wondering if there are any interesting rail sites between ORL and SAV (outside the JAX rail yard) that could be photographed from the train.

TIA for any feedback.

One site is Amtrak's Sanford Auto Train terminal. It is between Deland and Winter Park. You'll see trains equipped with superliner coaches and large auto carriers. 97/98 usually travel very slow at this point. To the north of Sanford and south of Deland, you'll see several CSX equipements (hoppers, boxcars, switchers, etc.) along the main track. However, from Deland, there will be only one track until you get to Green Cove Springs (between Palatka and Jacksonville).

Yes, it's on the Engineer's (right) side of the N/B train, just after the abandoned Sanford station. Also, just before that, you'll be stopping at Winter Park. one of the nicest trackside downtowns anywhere, and worth some pictures. Right side again is best.
