This is one of six 80' long motorcars built by St Louis Car Company in 1939 for the Southern Railway. They were powered by 5 cylinder Fairbanks-Morse engines rated at 750HP. Each car contained a standard RPO behind the engine/radiator compartment and a 38'11" long baggage compartment at the rear of the car. This is an early photo showing the original two axle front truck.

Each car had a trailer coach painted to match.

Sometime in the early 1940's, the front truck was replaced with a three axle heavyweight passenger car truck.

Two of the cars were purchased at scrap price in 1954 after Southern had already started disassembling them for parts to use on the line's other FM diesels.

The Georgia Northern bought former car #2.
