Joe Edwards, the owner of the Wabash Station building on Delmar Blvd in St. Louis, opened it up this past weekend as part of an effort to inspire discussion as to what it could become.

Those midnight sleepers referred to on the sign were interesting. There was one for Chicago and one for Kansas City, on trains leaving Union Station around or after midnight. Around 11 pm the sleepers were moved to Union Station and switched into their respective trains, which then passed through Delmar en route to their destinations. In the reverse direction the sleepers simply continued to Union Station, since they trains arrived at a suitable hour in the morning.

I'm not a huge starbucks fan, but they've done nice things with the Dempster street ex-North Shore station. About 20 years ago it was moved 100' back off the now-CTA main and a CPA took the back, while Starbucks took the front.
