Skipping the airport, saving the planet: My 19-hour carbon-saving jaunt across America.
My plane trip would've been a carbon-emissions nightmare, so I tried an experiment: Taking the train.

I have taken that train to Chicago, more than once. I wouldn't dream of flying. I wish they would electrify the line, cut out the single track sections and speed the trains up. They would then need more than one train a day.
