They're now suggesting that the driver had stopped the train to get out to talk to another driver and had not set the brake correctly, so the train ran away - https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-47401140" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

It always surprises me when a diesel loco catches fire in these circumstances, as diesel is relatively difficult to ignite. But it happens.

Thanks for the update,John. Something not right here. If you watch the CCTV footage in the bbc link,the train is moving way to fast for a rollaway with no power, unless there is a heck of a gradient into the station. Diesel needs pressure,rather than heat to explode, i guess the imploding fuel tanks would provide that. I suspect the engine and track were covered in oil etc,that added to the blaze, so I don't see the size of the explosion as unbelievable, or suspicious.
