Has anybody here explored the Lehigh Valley M&H line from Park Place down to Mahanoy City and back up to Barry Junction?

I have followed the eastern half of it in bits and pieces. The western half looks like it has been totally mined out???

Also are there any foundations or anything left to see at Kohinoor Junction?

This line fascinates me and I really need to get out and follow the rest of it this winter.

Thanks for any intel you guys might have!

No, I haven't. But have always been curious about that area. If you look at www.pennpilot.psu.edu , and look at the ~1938 maps of the area,
the line from Mahanoy City up to Barry junction, just west of today's Rte. 339, is already impossible to trace due to surface mines and dumps. I think that's the west leg you are referring too.

The eastern leg looks out of service by then too - covered over by some dump right around where it starts to turn south, with a long line of cars apparently stored on the dead end leg back to Park PLace. Perhaps being close to the road running near it is what preserved the remnants you found.

Also interesting was all the small mining towns/houses in the area still north and NW of Mahanoy City, surrounded by the mined out wastelands.
