A little OT, but I know that in 1956, #611 derailed after it took a curve to fast at Tug River. From what I heard, that accident played a roll in the fact that #611 is still with us today. I have a question: If the accident did not occur, would a different J class steam locomotive be around or would all of them be scrapped?

Her whistle is much nicer this year, so I'm glad I went down to see/hear her.

I was on the Saturday June 4th excursion from Manassas. This was the second time I had ridden behind the #611.

Has there been any discussion on bringing the #611 to do excursions on other parts of the Norfolk Southern system or are they going to keep in running in Virginia/North Carolina for the foreseeable future?
