Thanks for the heads up, heading up to Massachusetts this weekend but may have to talk to my railfan partner in crime about taking a ride up there, maybe we can also get some snow, just not to much .

One of the BRRHT big projects this year is turning CNJ baggage car #420 into a museum. Recently the car was moved to its spot directly infront of Ringoes Station along side some other equipment. Progress is going nicely with this project. Concurrent with this project it was decided a suitable work space was needed for the #420 project as well as other future projects. As luck would have it sitting on the ajacent track to CNJ #420 was one of the BR&W's old bule baggage car. The BR&W was more than willing to donate this car to the BRRHT, and is now part of our collection. After some quick research the car is former NYC # 8424. Here is a report from project coordinator Dick Hauge:
"Hello All...A great Thank You to all of you who have had a part in our on going project.Saturday we made some really important progress.We've pretty much finished paint scraping in the center part of the car where we will first set up shop.Electric instalation is present throuhout the car and we now have a secure lock in place. Thanks to Paul Nicholson we have temporary steps in place for access and most of all we have gotten the 6' sliding door in place and operating.To do this Scott took us in his truck to the Baggage Car in Lambertville where we were able to salvage replacement rollers for the door.Also while there we found that the original shelving was intact and were able to bring that back also thus saving us from having to purchase that for our storage shelves.Some of the posts were also brought back so we will have the original NYC system in place this is a real TEAM effort.We appreciate very much your time and effort...Dick"

Keep Saturday, April 17th open on your calendar. There will be a day long session at the Flemington Elks Lodge for a BRRHT Meeting and general session, followed by the History of the BRW, lunch, and then training sessions to cover safety, new rules for 2010, and the individual crafts. More details to follow.

Any news/updates on #60? Has it been out on any test runs? If not, any idea on when those could be? Would love to get out there soon to see her in action...

There has been continued work done on #60 over the winter. She has not been test run yet as her final FRA inspection has yet to be scheduled. There have been in house presure tests done and at 250 psi (working presure is 200psi) there have been some very minor leaks on just a few stay bolts. So these issues have been addressed before a call to the FRA is made. We want to make sure that the FRA likes what they see and doesnt need to come back, and further delay getting the engine back in service.

The other issue is that it would cost a small fortune to heat the engine house to prevent the water in the engine and tender from freezing with resultant substantial damage. So it is dry and any further hydrostatic testing, etc. as a practical economic matter can't be conducted until spring.

Feb 13, 2010. We're making progress in prepping the interior of the car for paint - about half of the interior has been scraped. Electrical outlets have been installed down both sides of the car and are now functional! Temporary overhead lighting has also been installed.

Any information on a possible date when the steam schedule would be uploaded? I keep checking the website daily to see if it has been uploaded - I can't wait to get out there and see her run!
