Caught ME-2 this afternoon crossing the Raritan at 5:56pm (thanks to daylight savings time).

NS 5269, eight cars and...no caboose! You can see the entire consist stretched out on the viaduct:

They were running from the General Tire lead to County for a run-around and return to Metuchen.

Rob thanks for posting that photo on the bridge! It helps also to see how much business they are hauling.

And I enjoyed the other train photos in your Flickr account as well!

Quick report from the field. OI-8 was westbound by North Elizabeth at 12:04pm heading for Metuchen. Power is CSXT 8886 and NS 3376. Nice to see an ex - EL SD45-2 in the lead.

Another update from the field - ME-2 was west through Highland Park with the NS 5313, 5 or 6 covered hoppers and the caboose, somewhere in the vicinity of 3:45 this afternoon.

You're welcome. And thanks for looking!

Now that the days are getting longer, it will be a little easier to catch ME-2 in action.

During my lunch break today I heard Conrail OI-8 at Lane calling CETC-9. I had no idea if I would make it over to North Elizabeth in time, but it paid off. Within a few minutes of arriving on the platform, OI-8 appeared with CSXT 8886 and NS 3376 leading 20+ cars (mostly covered hoppers) for Metuchen.

Here is a shot as they approached the station where a westbound NJT local was stopped:

A wider view as they passed through the station:

Funny you should mention that. If I'm not mistaken the train was ME-32. They returned to Metuchen around 4:20pm with a healthy 59-car train, with NS 5312 added to the consist.

Here they are passing Metuchen station with NS 3376 leading:

I crossed over to the westbound platform to get a shot of the train stretched out through Lincoln interlocking as they crossed over from 3 to 2 to 1 to the 0 track. It was impressive!

As you can see, a majority of the cars were loaded center-divider flat cars.

One final shot of them shoving up to Metuchen Yard off the west leg of the wye:

It's been a while since I've seen ME-2, so I thought I'd share today's sighting:

Taken in Edison at 5:43pm with NS 5311 shoving four cars and the caboose. About 20 or so minutes earlier I heard the crew calling clear of the General Tire lead, so it was a quick turn at County (thanks to the caboose).

At around 4:45pm today I heard ME-2 call in the clear on the Delco Lead. I haven't heard them reference the Delco Lead in quite a long time. So, is there some new business or were they just using the lead to get in the clear for NJT?
