Caught the following depressed deck flatcar with a transformer on it right next to the NEC this week near where Deans Lane crosses the NEC a mile or so south of Adams Yard.

Not sure where it was headed but the reporting marks indicate the car is owned by Kasgro Rail and has a load capacity of 385,600 lbs.

Not at all surprising if the load is destined for the large PSE&G Deans 500,000 Volt Switching Station which is about 3 miles by road from Deans Lane. South Plainfield is some 15 miles by road at least. Large loads like this often require temporarily moving telecommunications and electric distribution overhead, as well as other special routing clearance issues, when moved by truck. Such road moves are very expensive.
