This has always bothered me; I notice it every time I cross the Hack...
So a very old thread mentioned that the Lackawanna replaced the old bridge around 1958. The foundations of the old bridge are still there, but they point Northwest to the middle of nowhere.
Meanwhile the current alignment is a direct, perfectly straight shot from Lyndhurst to the current bridge to Secaucus. For the life of me I can't figure out the old alignment. Did it simply cross the Hack at the old foundations, curve around to meet the current alignment, and the old ROW was erased from history? GMap for reference
