hi, new to the RR.net forums. saw a question on page one that went unanswered. does anybody have any idea of the whereabouts of NHVT 669? this thread seems to be the only mention of it anywhere in the New England RR board

NHVT 669 became Florida West Coast (FWCR) 669 in the year 2000. I actually saw it at Rigby Yard in South Portland, Maine, as it was headed south to Florida.

It is now Florida Central (FCEN) 60.

fantastic... i figured it may have met its demise once NHVT ceased to exist. any idea on #3800 (GP38)?

Here's what I could find about the 3800:

The NHVT 3800 was the Maine Central 258. When the NHVT stopped operating it was returned to Helm and was sold to the Ottawa Valley Rail Link

thanks for the info on those two loco's, i was able to locate proof on RRArchives of them (3800 is now OVRL 2000) and their new homes. I was raised just a 10 minute drive from the old MEC/B&M junction in Whitefield, just in time to see the railroad's operations come to a halt. These were the only two i ever saw on the line besides a few stray Guilford units (25 & 52), and once got a ride on 669, long ago. its sad to see all the small railroads disappearing up north here, as i almost never see anything on the VRS lines, and only the NECR when visiting down south. Of course, it doesn't help with everyone still existing running trains in the middle of the night.

I thought I knew lots about the motive power of the Lamoille Valley, but I've just seen something on Ebay that was a complete surprise. There are a couple of slides for sale, showing Cartier Geeps in Morrisville. What's the story behind the pair of Canadian built GP-9s. The slides are dated July 1990. One of the Geeps is in the older green and yellow scheme, the other in the newer orange and black. Any more on these?
