Hi all,
The BRHPS will begin cosmetic Restoration of Portland Terminal Wooden Snow Plow #68 this coming weekend (Oct 5&6). We will be meeting at the Staples parking lot across from McDonalds in North Conway at 9:00 AM and will then head to Home Depot to pick up lumber, Paint, Primer and other needed materials and then head to the Roundhouse. Saturday and Sunday will be spent prepping the plow for residing and priming all the lumber. The following weekend, Oct 12&13th will be the day the plow will be resided. There is a good chance that if enough people show up to help, that we can get both sides done. If you want to come and help we ask you dress for outside construction work. PLEASE do not park in the Cabin Fever parking lot as that is for their customers. AT NO TIME CROSS THE TRACKS! Please use the access road on your left just after the RR crossing next to the roundhouse and drive down in and park at the Roundhouse. We hope you will consider joining us for 2 fun filled weekends of rewarding work.

Good pictures of the plow restoration and nice to see you're offering T-shirts as a fundraiser. Keep us posted on the plow rebuilding!

Hello my fellow Railfans. I have a favor to ask. The Bartlett Roundhouse Preservation Society is starting to collect images of Bartlett, Snow Plow #68, and the Roundhouse itself. We plan to do several "Books of Pictures" that we can put in a scrapbook and share at Railfans day and at the other non profit events that we attend throughout the year. We are looking for folks that would like to contribute images. Photo Credit will be given and no copies of the photo will be sold. The images sent will be recorded on disc also for permanent cataloging in the Society's archive.

If you have a photo or photo's you would like to contribute please send image along with a caption and your name to [email protected]

As always THANK YOU for your interest in the Bartlett Roundhouse and remember to check http://www.bartlettroundhouse.org" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; regularly for updates and events.

Update on the Plow #68, the open side that we could not complete has been tarped over by Bob Marshall and Wayne Allen (Thanks again guys). This will protect the plow until work can begin next spring. The heralding and numbers will also be done next spring, allowing the paint to fully cure.

Check out http://www.bartlettroundhouse.org" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; for more pics and events!

Exciting News for the Society! We have found a place to set up an office, archive and library! Thanks to the generosity of Conway Scenic Railroad and the State of NH DOT we will be setting up shop in the old freight agents office in the Bartlett Freight house come this spring!

All of us at the Society wish all of you a Happy Holiday season!!

Here's another Bartlett Roundhouse question:

What was last stored in the roundhouse using the single lead track? Perhaps maintenance of way equipment? One track seems a little thin for helper engines.

In 1981 and 1982 during the time ZO-2/OZ-1 ran out of Bartlett to Gilman and return a plow was at Bartlett for
at least a while that winter because I can remember repairing the electrical cord that connected to the locomotive
to power the headlight ( too many moons have passed for the carknockers to file a grievance now! ). Most of the
time snow removal was done by track dept. employees with a Petibone Speedswing with a bucket attached and
a large Kershaw ballast regulator which had a V-plow on one end and a snow blower on the other- this machine
was purchased for this duty and was housed in the garage portion of the Bartlett freight house.
