The 4 tank cars on the iron horse lead where gone this morning. Tighe in Woburn had 8-10 boxcars that where blue flagged. It’s hard to say but it looks like the same cut that was at Tighe in Winchester that where gone this morning. There was a lot of activity for the glx with small excavators clearing some bridge abutments. 510 was back behind bet.

Last night LA-2 left Lawrence Yard with twelve loads, pulled an empty Plate F boxcar from Atlantic Plywood, pulled four empty Plate F boxcars from Tighe Walnut Hill, spotted 5 loaded Plate F boxcars at Tighe Walnut Hill, and then did a bunch of switching at Tighe Montvale. As far as I could tell, they dug a Boston load out of Montvale, plus two more empty Plate F boxcars. They pulled down Yard 8 early this morning with a mix of Boston (eight loads, including 3 tankers of acid for Rousselot) and Lawrence (seven empty Plate F boxcars) traffic.

Blue dip PanAm on the lead to Iron Horse this morning wither least four tank cars, it was further down the track and couldn’t get the number. Partially railroad related, the inbound Lowell commuter rail I was on was delayed 30 mins as a body was discovered in Medford on the glx job site in between hardboard street and broadway. It wasn’t someone who was struck by a train.

Movement at both Tighe locations overnight with 3 cars at Woburn. There has been one car at Atlantic Pluwood for the past couple of days. Lots of glx activity with the nicer weather. Bigger equipment onsite and some tree clearing has begun. 510 was behind bet with a single scrap car. Yard 8 had a fairly long train with center flows and tank cars.

Interesting ride in this morning. Activity at Tighe in Woburn, probably about 10 cars there. A string of NHN hoppers At Anderson. Tighe in Winchester has about 5 loads spotted but there was a long string of hoppers and tanks cars on the second track. NHN sand train with two GP38s and a leaser on the lead to yard 8 with about 10 loads. 306 has replaced 510 behind BET.

Does anyone know what the siding after the High street underpass served? Its just after the two small solar farms before the lead into Iron Horse. There is only a small section of track left and I think the building is gone or abandoned.

I know DOBO derailed in Yard 8, near the Walnut St Crossover. From the sounds of what you saw, LA-2 dropped the Boston traffic they had at Montvale, ran down to Walnut St, pulled the tail end of DOBO off to get it off the main, and brought it to Tk 4 at Anderson.

Not sure if it's related to any of todays activities but tonight around... 10ish, there was a pretty long (for this area) freight train idling on the main line at tighe winchester. After a minute or two, they took off. Lots of hoppers and a few tankers. They probably had dropped off or picked up stuff from the "yard" but i dunno.

Dick H wrote:When was the DOBO derailment? Thanks.
Probably around 11pm Monday night.

Not sure what time you went through or what time the mainline was cleared off, but that may have just been an attempt to shave rust off the new crossovers at Tufts. As the crossovers were never used prior to Sunday, there is a rusty rail restriction on them. That basically means a train may not properly shunt (complete an electrical circuit) with the signal system. All trains crossing over must call their movement clear of the interlocking before the switches can be thrown again. In order to get these restrictions removed, trains may be intentionally crossed over, even when unnecessary, to get the rust off faster.

I am on the 7am usually. The sand train was clear of the main by then but there was a crew on the switch when we went by. This morning the sand hoppers where still in the same place as yesterday at the yard 8 lead and in Woburn. The NHN power was gone however.
