I just stumbled across this map that has peaked my interest in proposed rail lines that were never built or rail lines that were built but never saw a train. On the map I linked, you will see two dotted lines that sprawl out from Pittsfield, NH one going to Alton Bay, NH (which I knew about) and another one going down to Dover, NH (which I did not know about). The Suncook Valley Railroad was supposed to connect to Alton Bay but due to lack of funding the line was never completed. What rail line was supposed to head south to Dover, was this going to be part of Suncook Valley?

Pretty cool piece of history. It would be most interesting to see a more detailed map of the proposed route from Pittsfield to Dover. Not exactly smooth sailing between the two. (Of course smooth sailing wasn't a prerequisite for the likes of the WN&P)
