Back in the 70's I remember a locomotive in the engineering lab at U Maine Orono, anyone know the specifics?
It has been gone since the late 80's.
It operated off of compressed air if I remember correctly.

I believe the locomotive you are referring to is called the Lion. It ran in Washington County hauling lumber from Whitneyville to Machiasport. The Lion was built by Hinckley in 1846. It was later stored in a shed at the University of Maine at Machias for many years. It now is on display at the Maine State Museum in Augusta.
