Yes, it removes a piece of inactive equipment off the CMRR mainline, and off the property. 85' of track space freed up.

Apparently, this car required too much work for CMRR, and/or they can't use a dining car in the near future since the operating segments are too short for a dinner train, and they don't have many sidings. But it has no effect on the county politics. Apparently the County Executive was reelected for four years.

That might be interesting except for the fact the car was never owned by Catskill Mountain Railroad. The car was, and always has been, the property of Empire State Railway Museum. The only involvement CMRR has was that the Lion Gardiner occupied their tracks for so long.

Lion Gardiner departed Kingston today after 28 years in storage. It is headed west. We are happy it is being saved, but equally happy to have it leave the CMRR where it had become a liability. Many thanks to the IP for making this happen.

There are pictures of it in a thread on RYPN on the IP debacle, it's at a former auto plant there with a few other cars but it's in a separate location.

Nothing has been done to the car and it looks no different than when I remember walking up to it as it rotted next to NY-209 in maybe 2005.
