Whose roundhouse was this in East Chicago, IN?

I did try search on here first but did not come up with anything.

Was browsing on bing maps and found this roundhouse that is blocked in?? It's on the propert of Ispat steel. Check it out:

I imagine that once belonged to the PRR that was since abandoned between Hammond/Whiting Station and Clarke Junction. The land next to the roundhouse overlapping the Grand Calumet River looks like there was a bridge there at one time.

More likely because the other buildings were constructed after the Pennsy's abandonment.

That's the old Inland Steel roundhouse.

Here's a 1930's track diagram. Interestingly the only entrance was from a single track through the "back" of the roundhouse to the turntable, where locos were turned and entered the stalls.

Wow. Thanks for posting that. I've never seen another roundhouse that only had access from the back! I see those five lift bridges are still there and two are still in use. Did those belong to the steel company?

No, those bridges were the EJ&E, B&OCT and NYC. Currently the EJ&E and one of the three NYC bridges are in service.
