Everyone: I am interested in the former PRR/PC/Conrail Fort Wayne Division Main Line that goes across North Central Ohio and Indiana...

Who operated this line today? Is it Norfolk Southern?

That line was the route of the "Broadway Limited" until it was re-routed in the fall of 1990...

I rode that train many times from NYC to Chicago between 1973-1988...

I am interested in pictures specifically of the stations and junctions such as Amtrak stops at Canton,Crestline and Lima,Ohio
and Fort Wayne,Warsaw,Valparaiso and Gary,Indiana and junctions and/or cities in between those stations especially substantial cities that Amtrak
did not stop at such as Mansfield and Wooster,Ohio and junction towns like Bucyrus and Upper Sandusky,Ohio...

Does anyone know when exactly this line was single-tracked? I believe it was the early-mid 80s...am I right?

The era I am thinking of is 70s and 80s or recent day...

Thanks to all in advance...MACTRAXX

The line is now owned/operated by the Chicago Fort Wayne and Eastern.

The only pics I have of the line are at the Plymouth IN depot and diamond with the N&W Michigan City Line.

The line was single tracked in the 1985-1986 timeframe, I've seen photos from the summer of 1986 showing the rail trains working near Hobart, In at that time.

The CF&E does own some of the former PRR however, the NS still owns a segment near Valparaiso, Indiana where connections to the former NKP are located. The NS still runs a train or two a day down the PRR as well as the usual CF&E road freight. Occasionally, the CF&E runs a local as well.

The segment between Whiting, Ind and East Chicago, In (Clark Road) was abandoned during the construction of Cline Ave in the Early to Mid 1980's and connections were built at CP 505 (Whiting) and CP 501 (Clark Rd) Currently, the segment from CP 501 east to the diamonds with the IHB's Porter Branch at Ivanhoe are intact but unused. Interestingly enough, this trackage is welded rail. The Diamonds over the B&O were also removed. The CF&E runs directly onto the IHB at Ivanhoe at this point and runs to their Blue Island, IL (Riverdale) yard. Most NS trains either go via this route or jump off the PRR at Valparaiso, IN onto the former NKP.

You might also be interested in Urbana, OH. A short section of PRR main is operated by the IORY. The depot has been remodeled, if not an historically accurate restoration; the interior lacks some of the original fixtures. It now exists as a coffee shop and bike (rail) trail stop. This is at a point where the Erie crossed at grade and the NYC crossed overhead. As I understand, this existing stretch of PRR main is the route the Lincoln funeral train took enroute to Springfield, IL.
