So let's talk the NW Iowa/SD/MN/NE region. What do we have???
D&I, Sioux City IA, running 5-6 days a week, usually with 5-6 units/train; all GP9s + 2 SD39s
Nebraska Northeastern, HQ Osmand, NE, interchanges with BNSF at Ferry, NE (yard south side of S. Sioux City, NE), has leased GP20s and an SD-just got rid of their GP38s, runs 'as required' but shows up at Ferry frequently mid day throughout the week
Minnesota Southern, running the old Nobles & Rock, 2 GP7s, HQ Luverne, MN, also has several U23Cs in storage for private owner
Dakota Shortline, running Napa-Tyndell SD, 1 B30-7
Iowa Northwestern, the sad, sorry story here (see the IANW post in Shortlines); 1 each C420; GP11; SD18; dead (blown cylinder liners) SW900
Ellis & Eastern running in Sioux Falls, SD with EMD switchers-good luck catching them
ICE-They run thru Spenser to Sheldon (anyone know their operations)
Iowa Interstate-Council Bluffs, IA, always power around the enginehouse, including the last remaining M420Rs
Council Bluffs Rwy-basically a car storage outfit adjacent to Iowa Interstate in CB, one GP7, scrapped their last remaining NW5 several years ago
Brandon, South Omaha, NE GP7 and NW2 running the old South Omaha Terminal. Also have a stripped S1 stored.
Dakota Southern, mostly running Mitchell-Chamberlain, SD, but with authority to run 187 miles total; HQ Chamberlain; now does contract car storage west of Chamberlain and common carrier within Mitchell; best railfan roster in the area-1 C420, 2 SD9s, 2 SD7s, 3 GE 70 tonners; 1 S3
Also one other line in the area in the middle of start-up.
OK Midwestern railfans, give us your local lines. Greetings from "Siouxland".
